Astrae ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Astrae mobile application ("App").
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information: Email address and password when you create an account.
- Birth Data: Date of birth, time of birth (optional), and city of birth. This information is used solely to calculate your astrological natal chart.
- Chat Messages: Questions and conversations you have with our AI astrologer. These are stored to provide conversation history and improve your experience.
- Language Preference: Your selected language (English, Spanish, or Portuguese).
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers for push notifications.
- Push Notification Tokens: Used exclusively to send you daily horoscopes and cosmic event alerts, if you opt in.
- Usage Data: Interaction patterns, feature usage, and app performance metrics.
2.3 Information from Third Parties
- Geocoding Data: When you enter your birth city, we use Google Places API to obtain geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) for accurate astrological calculations. We do not store your current location.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Calculate and display your personalized natal chart.
- Generate personalized astrological readings and daily horoscopes.
- Process your questions through our AI system and provide relevant responses.
- Send push notifications with daily horoscopes and cosmic events (with your permission).
- Process payments and manage subscriptions.
- Improve our services and user experience.
- Communicate with you about your account or our services.
4. AI Processing
Astrae uses artificial intelligence (powered by Anthropic's Claude API) to generate personalized astrological responses. When you ask a question:
- Your question, along with your natal chart data and current planetary positions, is sent to Anthropic's API for processing.
- Anthropic processes this data solely to generate a response and does not use it to train AI models.
- We do not send your email, password, or payment information to AI services.
- AI-generated content is for entertainment and self-reflection purposes only and should not be considered professional advice.

5. Data Storage and Security
- Your data is stored securely on Supabase (hosted on Amazon Web Services) with encryption at rest and in transit.
- We implement Row Level Security (RLS) to ensure users can only access their own data.
- Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
- We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information.
6. Payment Processing
Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your credit card information on our servers. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data: https://stripe.com/privacy
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with:

8. Data Retention
- Account Data: Retained as long as your account is active.
- Chat History: Retained as long as your account is active. You can delete individual conversations from the app.
- After Account Deletion: All personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for analytics.
9. Your Rights
For all users:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data.
- Correction: Update or correct your information through the app.
- Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data from the Profile screen.
- Opt-out: Disable push notifications at any time through your device settings.
For users in Brazil (LGPD):
In accordance with the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD), you have additional rights including data portability, information about sharing with third parties, and the right to revoke consent. Contact us at privacy@astrae.app to exercise these rights.
For users in the European Economic Area (GDPR):

10. Children's Privacy
Astrae is not intended for children under 13 years of age (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we discover that a child has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately.
11. International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States (where our service providers operate). We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes through the App or via email. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when the policy was last revised.
